It has been awhile since we updated our blog, but that doesn’t mean that we have forgotten our project.
Great news today!! We got an email from RSG saying that they have accepted our proposal and are willing to support us. This is so exciting. We can’t wait to start the project. Everything is in order and we only have to finalize a few details, buy some stuff and then we are ready to go. Things are going to move more quickly now that we have RSG support.
We are going to a symposium next week. The SIPD symposium. Everyone important that we want to meet will be there. Julian Hyde from Reef check Malaysia is gonna be presenting, we’d like to meet him to ask about getting ourselves Reef check certified. This will enable us to carry out reef surveys and show the result to international audiences. Our referees will be there, Prof Ridzwan & Dr Annadel are going to attend. We are deeply thankful towards them for their support and their belief in us and our mission.
Besides that we are also going to take the opportunity to promote our project at the symposium. Most people attending are experts in their field and I’m sure that they will have comments and suggestions that will help us greatly. This is also a perfect time to ask others about their project for this year 2008 and find out possibility of KK Reef Watch participating in their projects. In fact, WWF Sabah is planning to do road shows this year and so we would like to explore the opportunity for us to join their road shows. It will be an excellent chance for us to showcase the student’s achievements, posters and presentations.
We have already identified the school that we will be working with. SMK D. Peter Mojuntin, Sri Insan, Sanzac, Maktab Sabah & SBPS. We have already met with a teacher from that school, Mr. Ridwan and he seems keen to participate. On Sunday we met him again to talk more about their student’s involvement in the ‘i see, i care, i save’ program. He gave a lot of useful ideas on the education part and more ideas on getting schools participation. (Thanks!=)
We are very thankful to those who believed in us and we welcome the responsibilities that comes with that belief. It’s gonna be a fantastic year, thank you once again.
